What is SEO Content?2 min read

There is no such thing as “SEO content” and if you’ve been told to create this, you might want to take a step back and investigate. You may have heard that “content is King” in relation to SEO (search engine optimization) and online visibility. That’s 100% true, although the source and quality of the content is crucial.

In the early years of online visibility, content was essentially text on a page, and search engines hadn’t yet caught up with algorithms to determine if that content was complete gibberish, or actually made sense. This led to the initial form of “internet spam”, in the form of “keyword articles”. This would be an article that is quite obviously not meant for any human, littered with over-exaggerated keywords and phrasing.

In the modern age, written content is still vital, but image, social, and video content are quickly taking hold. With the onset of AI-search and its trajectory, the ability for AI tools to understand the mediums mentioned above will increase at a rapid rate. Until that point and well-after, you’ll still need high-quality content in written form. This can take different places than you might expect, from back-end descriptions of images and other elements on your site, mentions of your company on other websites, to actual pages on your website which are written about your products or services.

To conclude, Content is just content. High-quality content that impacts users will also affect your SEO performance, because both traditional and AI-search tools are still focused on creating the best user experience.
